D-Day: 30 Corps and Gold Beach

The detailed story of the D-Day landings on Gold Beach, 6 June 1944.

The paper begins with an analysis of German defences and the German Army in June 1944, and then gives an exact history of the landings on Gold Beach and particularly operations by 30 Corps to establish a beachhead on that day. It includes references to 79th Armoured Division and Hobart's "funnies" as well as all other formations active.

This goes into the detail of the landing in much more detail than any other publication, and is essential for an understanding of what really happened on the "longest day."
